Windsurfing: Composite construction is the more expensive method of board production. A lightweight pre-shaped foam core is heat-sealed with a composite skin made of glassfibre with reinforcement provided by 'exotic' materials like carbon and kevlar, all held together with epoxy resin, and sometimes a thin outer layer of plastic added too, for extra durability. It produces boards that are light, stiff and reasonably durable.
